(Andy Hutson is) living in an era of permanent catastrophe: a relentless stream of real-time disasters bombards us daily from political crises to environmental cataclysm. Tropic Entropic proposes a local disaster of semiotic decay, in which Australia’s landscape-already reduced to a collection of absurd icons-gradually loses meaning as it is reduced to spectacular imitations. … [judging from the wanky art blurb, this person looks like a real artiste. philth reckons it should've been called topic entropic as it is assumed there will be no typhoons, cocktails served in hollowed out coconuts or cabana-boys - all of which (or any combination of the above) epitomise the tropics for me]
